New Beginnings Christian Academy  has a very dedicated group of teachers and administrators who make learning fun, worship inspiring, and help things run smoothly at the academy.  We consider each one to be a special blessing from God.
NBCA’s chief executive officer is Pastor Bill Holland and our chief financial officer is his wife, Pastor Donna Holland.  The Hollands are also senior pastors at New Beginnings Christian Center and have diligently led the church and school since 2007. Pastor Bill speaks in the Middle and High School Chapel each Friday  as the students and staff come together on Friday afternoons to sing and learn from God’s Word.  The Hollands lead students by example.
Our Principal and Administrator is Pastor J.R. Deetz. He replaced Dr. Victoria Vick who retired during the 2015/16 school year. He has had extensive experience in the classroom and in school administration. Pastor Deetz has served 26 years as senior pastor throughout Florida, fourteen years in Church of the Nazarene, and twelve years as Pastor of Sherwood Chapel, which meets on Saturdays on the New Beginnings Christian Center campus. He has taught 13 years as High School English teacher in North Florida, and was pastor/administrator of Oak Hill Christian Academy.
We are so proud of our team of educated and experienced teachers.  Each teacher has many years of experience in the classroom, each are certified,  each  love the Lord, and they love teaching children and teens. You won’t find a more dedicated staff anywhere.
Ms. Linda Moody remains our Middle and High School math teacher in the 2019/20 school year,  and is the perfect fit for these energetic young people. Extensive years in the classroom, as well as mother to eight and grandma to twice that many, Ms. Moody combines teaching with mother skills and it is an awesome combination.
Mrs. Pam Faulk is going back to teaching middle school in the 2019/20 school year. Besides being an awesome teacher,  she is a spirit-filled prayer warrior. If she has any issue in class, don’t be surprised to find her stopping everything to pray about it. She has taught at NBCA for eight years and is one of the most-loved teachers we have.
Ms. Cathy Neels  moves to 3-5 grades in the 2019/20 school year. Cathy leads her classes with much enthusiasm and imagination.  She taught for many years public school system in Baltimore before moving to Florida. She holds a Master’s Degree in Deaf Education as well as extensive experience in elementary education. Her class is always sharing something new that they have learned with the staff and other students.
Mrs. Beverly Deetz, wife of Pastor Deetz, has taught school in North Florida for many years, working primarily with special needs children. She teaches Independent Learning (grades 3-12).  Her children think she is the best teacher ever. Her abilities in teaching children who learn differently are amazing.
Mrs. Laura Newman joined the staff of NBCA in the 2015/16 school year. She taught with the Deetzes at another private school in the area for several years. Mrs. Newman is teaching 2nd grade core subjects and is teaching electives to high school students.
Pastor Deetz teaches High School English.
Mrs. Danielle Bungubung is a newlywed. She married Brian in August of 2017. Mrs. “B” is like part of the family for Pastor and Mrs. Deetz. When they first met, she was a child. She babysat often for the Deetz’s. Then she went off to Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. When she returned to Jacksonville, she studied for her VPK Director’s license. When Pastor Deetz realized he was very close to having VPK at New Beginnings, he called Danielle, and was thrilled when she accepted his offer to come. She is an awesome teacher. She has agreed to take the Kindergarten through 2nd grades in 2019/20 school year.
Ms. Brenda Arnold, Mrs. Deetz’s sister, volunteered to come lead drama for the 2015 Christmas musical. She loved it so much that she returned for the 2016 Christmas musical, and asked her bosses at Baptist to work with her so she could continue volunteering to teach drama after Christmas. Ms. Arnold added a  puppetry class for high school students so they can do skits for the elementary chapel services.
The first person you see when you enter the school is usually Mrs. Shirley Arnold, who  serves as our school office administrator.  Shirley joined our team in April 2016 and brings many years of education support experience to NBCA.  She loves working with the staff and students.
