Mrs. Deetz’s Independent Learning (100% McKay Scholarship Students) during National School Choice Week festivities.
The McKay Scholarship Program allows parents of students with disabilities to choose the best academic environment for their children. This program provides eligible students the opportunity to attend a participating private school or transfer to another public school.
Students who are titled 504 or have been issued an I.E.P. in the public school and have remained in the public school system may file an Intent for this scholarship. If they have been issued an I.E.P. but left the public school system and went private, they must go back to public school for one fiscal school year and be re-evaluated. At that time, the evaluation results will determine if the student’s I.E.P. can be reinstated. If eligible, the parent then needs to file an Intent for eligibility approval. Students with parents in the Armed Forces who transfer to Florida due to a permanent change in orders may also be eligible.
Deadline date is July 3
